Roger Ver, one of the earliest promoters of Bitcoin known as "Bitcoin Jesus," has admitted to deliberately evading his tax obligations in the United States and paid nearly $50 million in compensation.

The US Department of Justice announced the settlement, stating that Ver failed to declare his significant holdings of Bitcoin when he renounced his citizenship in 2014, resulting in a tax loss of nearly $17 million.

Following his arrest in Spain and extradition, Ver has signed a deferred prosecution agreement, leading the government to dismiss the charges against him.

A US prosecutor stated:

"Mr. Ver is accepting responsibility for his actions and has agreed to pay a substantial penalty."
