The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is set to lift its 2019 ban on cryptocurrency exchange-traded notes (ETNs) for retail investors, marking a significant policy shift, it announced in August.

Soon, retail investors will be able to access these debt-based cryptocurrency securities on FCA-approved British exchanges.

This move has sparked immediate interest from major financial players, with BlackRock rumored to be preparing its iShares Bitcoin product for the British market.

Industry leaders have welcomed the change, with Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley expressing his enthusiasm for "being able to serve more investors in our home market in Europe at long last," marking a new chapter for digital asset access in Britain.
