Metaplanet Purchases $61M in BTC

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has added another 518 BTC (worth $61.4 million) to its growing Bitcoin reserves, consolidating its position as one of the world's largest corporate holders of the crypto.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed company revealed that the purchase was made at an average price of $118,519 per BTC, bringing its total holdings to 18,113 BTC, acquired at an average cost of $101,911 per coin.

This latest acquisition follows Metaplanet's recent announcement of its plans to raise 555 billion yen ($3.7 billion) through perpetual preferred shares to finance new Bitcoin purchases.

Metaplanet now ranks as the sixth-largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, trailing only industry giants such as MicroStrategy (628,946 BTC) and Marathon Digital (MARA).
