Bo Hines, head of the White House Presidential Advisory Council on Digital Assets, will step down and return to the private sector, according to journalist Eleanor Terrett.

Hines, a former college football player and crypto investor appointed by President Trump in December 2024, will be replaced by his deputy, Patrick Witt.

Terrett reported that Hines will retain his advisory role and assist White House AI and cryptocurrency chief David Sacks on AI-related initiatives.

Hines wrote on Saturday on X:

"Serving in President Trump’s administration and working alongside our brilliant AI & Crypto Czar, David Sacks, as Executive Director of the White House Crypto Council, has been the honor of a lifetime. Together, we have positioned America as the crypto capital of the world."

Witt, Hines' designated successor, previously served as deputy chief of staff for the US Office of Personnel Management during Trump's first term.
