After weeks of delays due to Republican concerns about CBDCs, the US House of Representatives passed three key cryptocurrency bills on Thursday, The Wall Street Journal reported on July 17.

The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act (CLARITY) passed by a vote of 294 to 134, while the GENIUS Act (focused on stablecoins) passed by a vote of 308 to 122.

The Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act passed by a narrow margin of 219 votes in favor and 210 against.

Republicans pushed for full party support as part of their "crypto week" initiative, in line with former President Trump's pro-cryptocurrency stance.

However, the debate stalled briefly when some Republican Party members demanded stricter restrictions on CBDCs.

Nearly 80 Democrats backed the CLARITY Act and more than 100 supported the GENIUS Act, ensuring their passage before Congress' August recess.
