Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has purchased an additional 797 BTC for approximately $93.6 million, further consolidating its position as one of the largest corporate holders of Bitcoin.
In a Monday post on X, CEO Simon Gerovich revealed the acquisition was made at an average price of $117,451 per Bitcoin, bringing Metaplanet's total holdings to 16,352 BTC, worth approximately $1.64 billion at the current price.
According to bitcointreasuries.net, Metaplanet ranks fifth among public companies with the most Bitcoin, behind only MicroStrategy, MARA, Twenty One, and Riot Platforms.
Metaplanet shifted to a Bitcoin-focused treasury strategy last year. Last month, it announced an ambitious goal of owning more than 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027.
