South Korea's Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung has pledged to approve spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and implement other cryptocurrency-friendly policies if elected president.
Lee unveiled these pledges on May 6 as part of a broader initiative aimed at expanding investment opportunities for Korea's youth, a key demographic in the upcoming June 3 election.
He also pledged to legalize spot cryptocurrency ETFs, reduce transaction fees and improve consumer protection measures.
According to a Korea National Barometer poll conducted between April 24 and April 30, Lee's Democratic Party of Korea leads with 42% support, while acting Korean President Han Duck-soo trails with 13%.
