The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has asked the court to dismiss its appeal against prediction market Kalshi.
If approved, this could allow the platform to offer political event contracts without contest.
On May 5, CFTC lawyers filed an unopposed motion to dismiss with the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, indicating a potential settlement with Kalshi.

This, pending court approval, could conclude the CFTC's appeal of an earlier federal court decision allowing Kalshi to list contracts for political events, such as election betting.
In a joint filing, Kalshi agreed to cover its own costs, court fees and attorneys' fees if the motion to dismiss is granted.
