El Salvador has purchased an additional 7 BTC (worth more than $650,000) in the last week, according to blockchain data from the country's Bitcoin Office.

The move comes despite recent comments from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) suggesting that the government has halted its Bitcoin purchases.

During a press conference on April 26, Rodrigo Valdes, director of the IMF's Western Hemisphere Department, stated that El Salvador was complying with its agreement to halt the government's accumulation of Bitcoin.

The discrepancy raises questions as to whether the purchases were made by a government entity or by an independent state-affiliated body not covered by the IMF agreement.
