The Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Russia plan to launch a crypto exchange for qualified investors as part of an experimental legal initiative.

The platform will be aimed at super-qualified investors, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said during a ministry meeting, Russian media outlets RBC and Interfax reported on April 23.

Siluanov explained that the initiative, in collaboration with the central bank, aims to legalize crypto assets and bring cryptocurrency trading out of the shadows.

This initiative will be carried out at the international level under the experimental legal regime, rather than at the national level.

Earlier, on March 12, the Russian central bank proposed to allow a select number of Russian investors, meeting specific asset criteria, to trade cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin under a three-year experimental framework.
