A Nigerian court has delayed the tax evasion case against Binance until April 30, allowing time for Nigeria's tax authority to respond to a request from the platform.
According to an April 7 Reuters report, Binance's lawyer, Chukwuka Ikwuazom, asked the court to invalidate an order allowing service of court documents by email.
He argued that Binance, which has no office in Nigeria, was improperly served, as the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) did not obtain court permission to serve documents outside the country.
In February, the FIRS filed a lawsuit against Binance, claiming it owed $2 billion in back taxes and demanding $79.5 billion in damages, alleging that the platform's operations destabilized the naira, an accusation Binance denies.
