Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao has contributed more than $500,000 in cryptocurrencies to support earthquake relief efforts in Thailand and Myanmar, highlighting the growing role of blockchain in emergency charity initiatives.
On March 3, Zhao donated 1,000 BNB tokens, valued at nearly $600,000, to help the region, according to blockchain data.
The donation follows a 7.7 magnitude earthquake on March 28 that severely damaged buildings and caused widespread flooding in both countries.

In 2024, crypto donations surpassed $1 billion, driven by the rising value of digital assets and clearer regulation of cryptocurrencies.
Approximately 16% of contributions went to education, while 14% went to medical and health-related initiatives.
