The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has delayed its decision to allow Cboe BZX Exchange to list options linked to Fidelity's Ether ETF.
According to a March 12 SEC notice, the agency has extended its deadline to May 14 to make a decision on Cboe BZX's request to include options linked to the Fidelity Ethereum Fund (FETH).
The initial request to include these options was submitted by Cboe BZX in January.
Listing options on Ether funds is a key step in attracting institutional investment to the cryptocurrency sector.
In February, the SEC recognized more than a dozen exchange filings related to cryptocurrency ETFs.
