OKX Wins a MiFID II License in Europe

Cryptocurrency exchange OKX has obtained a MiFID II license from the European Union, allowing it to offer derivative products throughout the region.

On March 12, Erald Ghoos, OKX's CEO for Europe, announced the platform had obtained a Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) license.

This development follows OKX's recent pre-authorization under the Markets in Cryptoassets (MiCA) framework, which allows it to provide services on 28 markets in the European Economic Area.

Although MiFID II and MiCA licenses complement each other, they serve different functions: MiFID II applies to all financial instruments and requires registration of cryptocurrency platforms, while MiCA is aimed at crypto service providers dealing in non-financial cryptocurrencies.
