The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is seeking public input on whether it should approve options trading for three spot Ethereum ETFs.

The SEC has requested comments on the potential listing and trading of options for the Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF, the Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF and the Bitwise Ethereum ETF on the Cboe Exchange, Inc. according to a regulatory filing published Tuesday.

Public comments must be submitted within 21 days of publication in the Federal Register. After reviewing the comments, the SEC can choose to approve, disapprove or initiate further proceedings.

Several spot Ethereum ETFs received SEC approval in May 2024, prompting organizations to push for options trading to be allowed.
