The Thai financial authority is exploring the possibility of allowing Bitcoin ETFs on local cryptocurrency exchanges, Bloomberg has reported.

Securities and Exchange Commission Secretary General Pornanong Budsaratragoon announced Tuesday that the regulator is studying the option of allowing both individuals and institutions to invest in local Bitcoin ETFs, thus providing direct access to Bitcoin.

In March last year, Thailand's SEC approved asset management firms to launch funds that invest in US spot Bitcoin ETFs exclusively for institutional investors.

In addition, One Asset Management launched a fund of funds in June, aimed at professional and institutional investors, offering exposure to international Bitcoin ETFs.
