Singapore has blocked access to cryptocurrency-based prediction marketplace Polymarket.

The measure has been adopted as part of its offensive against unlicensed gambling platforms.

People trying to access the site from Singapore are met with a warning citing Section 20 of the Gambling Control Act 2022.

This legislation imposes fines of up to 10,000 Singapore dollars, imprisonment of up to six months, or both, for gambling with unlicensed operators.

The GRA oversees all gaming activities in Singapore. It was formed by restructuring the Casino Regulatory Authority to create a unified regulatory body capable of addressing the changing landscape of gaming products and services.
