Standard Chartered, one of the world's largest banks, has received a digital asset license in Luxembourg, which will allow it to introduce cryptocurrency services in Europe.

On January 9, the bank announced that it will establish a new entity in Luxembourg, which will act as an entry point for offering cryptocurrency and digital asset custody services in the European Union.

This decision followed the implementation of the Markets in Cryptoassets Regulation (MiCA).

Initially, the bank's cryptocurrency services in the EU will be limited to Bitcoin and Ether, with plans to add more assets by 2025.
