North Korean Hackers Steal $1.3 Billion in 2024: Report

According to Chainalysis, between 2023 and 2024, there was a dramatic increase in the amount of digital assets stolen by hackers linked to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The analytics firm reported that, in 2024, 47 hacks were recorded, with a total value of more than $1.3 billion. This accounted for approximately 61% of all thefts reported in that year.

This was a significant jump from the previous year, when DPRK hackers stole just over $660 million in digital assets.

The report also noted that the frequency of attacks was increasing, especially in the $50 million to $100 million range and above $100 million.
