The SEC has given its approval for Nasdaq to list and trade options shares of BlackRock's spot Bitcoin ETF.

In a notice published Sept. 20, the regulator has authorized options trading for the iShares Bitcoin Trust, with ticker IBIT, on Nasdaq.

This means Nasdaq will allow options trading on the ETF, which follows the same rules as other ETF options.

Options on IBIT will be physically settled and will follow the initial and continued listing rules set by the platform.
