Asset manager WisdomTree has officially filed to cancel its S-1 filing for a spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF) with the SEC, more than three years after its initial filing.

The firm filed a document with the SEC on Sept. 6 stating that the registration statement, which was first filed on May 27, 2021, will no longer go forward and that no securities have been or will be issued or sold through it.

However, WisdomTree will not receive a refund for the fees paid to the SEC for filing the registration statement and has requested that the amount be credited for future use.

The original application was filed in May 2021, with the intent to list Ethereum ETF shares on the CBOE's BZX Exchange.
