Goldman Sachs plans to launch three tokenization projects by the end of the year, Fortune has reported citing Goldman's global head of digital assets, Mathew McDermott.

Although information on these projects is limited, one is believed to be aimed at the US fund sector, while the other is focused on European debt markets. In addition, the bank is also said to be planning to develop markets for tokenized assets.

In recent months, Goldman's competitors, such as BlackRock, Franklin Templeton and Fidelity, have also shown interest in real-world asset tokenization.

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink has stated tokenization is the "next generation" of markets, and the company recently launched its blockchain-powered treasury product, BUIDL, which has reached a market value of more than $500 million.

For its part, Franklin Templeton has launched a yield-paying fund and a related BENJI token on the Stellar and Polygon blockchains.
