Argentina's government has begun implementing rules for crypto exchanges to operate legitimately in the country.

In a statement released on March 25, Argentina's National Securities Commission (CNV) stated that virtual asset service providers must comply with the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

These providers must register with the Argentine government as part of the country's efforts to reform its Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) laws.

The implementation of these laws affecting crypto providers in Argentina moved forward on March 14, when the country's Senate approved changes to laws aimed at preventing money laundering and terrorist financing.

The president of the CNV, Roberto Silva, stated that virtual asset service providers that are not registered "will not be able to operate within the country."
