Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, has announced it intends to launch the asset on Celo, a blockchain platform compatible with the Ethereum virtual machine.
At the moment, the specific launch date for USDT on Celo is unknown, although a Tether representative has stated that it will happen "soon."
The move follows in the footsteps of Tether rival Circle, which launched its USDC stablecoin on Celo earlier this year.
By expanding to Celo, USDT will become available on more than a dozen blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana and Avalanche.
However, Tether has also recently discontinued support for some networks, including Kusama, Bitcoin Cash Simple Ledger Protocol and Omni Layer.
