The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has filed a lawsuit against digital asset platform Debiex for allegedly defrauding $2.3 million.
According to the indictment, which was filed in Arizona District Court, Debiex representatives entered into friendly or romantic relationships with potential victims and gained their trust in March 2022.
They then invited them to open and fund trading accounts on the platform. As part of the scheme, Debiex misappropriated funds from at least five "investors," the CFTC has reported.
The lawsuit also names Zhang Cheng Yang as a defendant. The platform allegedly used its crypto wallet to embezzle funds from at least one victim.
