Attackers have hacked the accounts of crypto market data aggregator CoinGecko in X.
According to the announcement made by the project team:
"Our Twitter accounts @CoinGecko and @GeckoTerminal have been compromised. We're taking immediate steps to investigate the situation and secure our accounts. Please DO NOT click on any links or engage with suspicious content."
Hackers have apparently posted a message about the distribution of 125,000 tokens called GCKO. Allegedly, the coin launched by CoinGecko will allow to pay for the API of most major Web3 infrastructure providers such as Ankr.

Users have asked if the accounts had two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled, as the SEC accounts were recently hacked and did not have this security option enabled.
CoinGecko has announced it has regained control of the accounts.
