According to data from CoinGlass, total open interest in Bitcoin futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has stood at an all-time high of $6.22 billion.
The figure is well above that of other platforms. For example, on Binance it stands at $4.61 billion, while on Bybit it stands at $3.48 billion.
The previous maximum open interest at CME was recorded back in November 2021, when this stood at $4.5 billion coinciding with Bitcoin's rally to $68,000.
The fact that the indicator has seen a 12% increase over the last day implies that there are a greater number of institutional traders.
Open interest in long Bitcoin futures held by asset managers at CME has also reached an all-time high, rising from $2.45 billion at the end of December to $2.52 billion.
