An unknown user sent 26.91 BTC valued at nearly $1.2 million to Satoshi Nakamoto's wallet on January 5.
As reported by The Block, most of the funds in the sender's wallet came from a wallet allegedly belonging to Binance.
The Bitcoin creator's Genesis wallet currently contains 99.67 BTC valued at around $4.4 million. These assets have not moved since December 2010.
Conor Grogan, director of Coinbase, has said:
"Either Satoshi woke up, bought 27 bitcoin from Binance, and deposited into their wallet, or someone just burned a million dollars."
