Marathon Digital Holdings, a US-based crypto mining company, broke a new record for Bitcoins mined last month, as it mined more Bitcoins during December than in any previous month.
The press release shared by the company yesterday reports the company mined 1,853 Bitcoins in December, 56% more than in November and 290% more than in December last year.
The company reported:
"We believe this to be the highest monthly total ever recorded by a public Bitcoin mining company."
Another mining firm, Core Scientific, has reported that in January 2023 it mined the highest monthly amount, with 1,527 BTCs mined. However, this figure is 300 Bitcoins lower than that reported by Marathon.

According to Fried Thiel, the company's CEO, the record could be due to an 18.4% monthly increase in Marathon's hashrate to 22.4 exahashes per second.
