Hackers Stole 51% Less Funds Last Year: Report

According to a report released yesterday by blockchain security firm CertiK, more than $1.8 billion in digital assets were lost in 751 security incidents last year.

Although the amount is still high, it is 51% lower than in 2022. At that time, losses from hacks and other incidents reached $3.7 billion.

The report, which analyzes the state of Web3 security during 2023, highlights the third quarter of last year saw the highest losses (more than $686 million).

According to the document, the theft of private keys continued to be the hackers' favorite attack. In total, $880 million was lost last year in 47 incidents in which private keys were compromised.
