Terraform Labs (TFL) founder Do Kwon has been sentenced by a Montenegro court to imprisonment until February 15, 2024 at the request of the United States.

As reported by the court's press secretary, Marija Rakovic, in an interview with Bloomberg, the decision has been made in response to a request from the United States and South Korea, which seek to prosecute the crypto entrepreneur on charges related to the collapse of the stablecoin TerraUSD.

The High Court of Montenegro approved Kwon's extradition last month, leaving it to Montenegro's Minister of Justice to choose the country. However, the defendant's lawyers appealed this decision, which is now being considered by the court of appeals.

Montenegrin police arrested Do Kwon and former Terraform Labs CFO Han Chang-joon on March 23 while they were trying to fly from Podgorica airport to Dubai using fake passports.
