Binance has just announced it is working to expand into Thailand through the launch of a crypto exchange in partnership with Gulf Energy, a company owned by billionaire Sarath Ratanavadi.
The new company, called Gulf Binance, has received approval from the country's authorities to offer its services.
Thailand's Ministry of Finance granted the joint venture a digital asset operator license in May.

According to the statement:
"Gulf Binance’s digital asset platform will provide digital asset exchange and digital asset broker services for both cryptocurrencies and digital tokens, prioritizing security and compliance with SEC regulations."
Gulf Energy has added the exchange will initially be open to users "by invitation only" and general access will launch in early 2024.
Binance and Gulf Energy reached an agreement on the joint venture in early 2022.
