Athena Bitcoin Global and Genesis Coin have just announced they have added support for the Lightning Network (LN) to Bitcoin ATMs in El Salvador and other Latin American countries.
According to MarketScreener, the aim of the move is to speed up withdrawals and minimize the fees users have to pay when using the ATMs.

The upgrade will be implemented gradually, starting with Chivo devices in El Salvador, where 100 ATMs are planned to be upgraded by the end of the year.
The rest will add support for the network during the first quarter of 2024.
El Salvador's Vice President Felix Ulloa said in October that the country's recovery from the crisis is due to the adoption of BTC as legal tender in 2021.
