Kazakhstan has reported through its Ministry of Culture and Information that the country has blocked access to Coinbase's website.

According to the statement, the country's authorities have been blocking local IP access to Coinbase since September.

The blocking has reportedly been carried out by order of the Ministry of Culture and Information at the request of the Ministry of Digital Development. According to the latter, Coinbase has violated the country's Digital Assets Law.

The aforementioned law, which came into force in February, prohibits the issuance and trading of digital currencies and the operation of crypto exchanges without a national license.

This license is granted by the authority of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), a special economic zone of Kazakhstan.
