Tether Freezes Addresses Related to Conflicts in Ukraine and Israel

Tether, the issuer of the stablecoin USDT, has blocked 32 addresses holding a total of $873,118.34 because, according to the company, these are linked to illegal activities, terrorist financing and the wars in Israel and Ukraine.

According to the press release, the company is committed to working closely with law enforcement around the world.

To date, Tether has frozen a total of $835 million in assets at the request of 31 agencies from 19 different countries.

The company has emphasized the joint efforts with law enforcement agencies demonstrate the industry's ability to combat the use of digital assets for illicit purposes effectively.

Since December 2021, Israeli authorities have reportedly blocked 189 accounts on Binance allegedly belonging to terrorist groups ISIS and Hamas.
