Crypto exchange OKX intends to enter the Indian market as part of its plan to expand its services.
The company's chief marketing officer, Haider Rafiq, has pointed out that there are currently 200,000 users of the platform's wallet in the country, which represents just 5% of the local Web3 participants.
He has noted:
"We're going to learn about the community. We're going to work with local folks. Figure out where we can add value."
According to him, the company does not yet intend to open an office in India. However, the platform is looking for local employees to implement its plans.
He has added:
"Once India comes up with a regulatory framework for crypto then we would like to be the front runners."
India reported in early 2021 about a possible ban on cryptocurrencies; there was even talk of criminal liability for their owners. However, in the middle of the year it was reported that the authorities would legalize digital currencies as an asset class.
