Smart contract platform Fantom has just launched a program to incentivize projects on the network through transaction fees.
Eligible applications will reportedly be rewarded with 15% of gas commissions as additional revenue.
Andre Cronje, who joined the Fantom Foundation board of directors, in December called the implementation of the gas monetization idea one of the platform's priority goals for this year.

The community supported the Dapp Gas Monetization Program decision earlier this year. The proposal included a reduction in the burn rate of transaction fees on Fantom tokens (FTM) from 20% to 5%. The released funds are directed to the program.
The initiative is supposed to help further stimulate in-demand dApps, retain project developers and strengthen the network infrastructure.
On the first day of the program, several apps have already started receiving additional revenue.
