Dan O'Prey, chief product officer of institutional platform Bakkt, has said the company is considering expanding its business in Europe as the local regulatory framework strengthens.

Moreover, he has praised the bill adopted last April 20 to regulate the cryptoassets market (MiCA).

According to him:

"Any form of clarity is by and large good. […] At least people know where they stand, they know how they can operate and they know how they can comply, and that enables businesses and institutions to participate in the space."

In his view, regions that provide clear regulation for digital assets "get a lot of inflow of talent, of capital [and] of jobs."

Bakkt currently only provides services within the United States. O'Prey has specified the company is "working with some partners" to identify potential jurisdictions for expansion.
