Litecoin Visa card owners in the US will no longer be able to use it as of May 1, 2023, as Litecoin's banking partner Metropolitan Commercial Bank decided to "stop supporting businesses that touch digital currencies." The reason behind the move remains unclear.

Litecoin Foundation said in a tweet announcement on Wednesday the change is impacting only US card programs launched by Unbanked, not Mastercard's clients in the EU or the UK. Visa card issuer Unbanked told clients in an email letter it is in discussions with "alternative banks" that will offer the same services.
Litecoin launched its own Visa card in November 2021. With the card, users can spend crypto at restaurants and digital services. The card charged a monthly cost of $5.
