Tom Emmer, the Republican Majority Leader of the US House of Representatives, has criticized SEC Chairman Gary Gensler's approach to the oversight of digital assets.
He has said:
"He’s been blindly spraying the crypto community with enforcement actions while completely missing the truly bad actors."
He has cited the example of US crypto exchange Coinbase, which "has actively tried to work with the SEC," but in March received a notice from the agency about the investigation.

Later, the platform's CEO, Brian Armstrong, called the regulator's approach disastrous for the US financial sector.
Emmer has added:
"This is clearly not the way the government should be serving Americans, and I believe it sends a clear message to the broader crypto community."
