Coinbase Plans to Obtain a License in Canada

US cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is negotiating with Canadian regulators to obtain a license to continue its operations in the country, CoinDesk has reported citing sources.

Coinbase communications director Elliot Suthers has said:

"We remain as committed as ever to the Canadian market as a core component of our international road map."

The publication's interlocutors have noted the high likelihood of Binance leaving Canada.

In an interview, company representatives have stressed the exchange "has not made definitive plans yet" and "is actively engaged with regulators."

Deribit and Blockchain.com press officers have announced they plan to leave the local market, while Crypto.com intends to stay.

The largest cryptocurrency exchanges are working on these scenarios in the context of further regulation of their activities in the country.
