The two have been arrested in Podgorica airport on Thursday, when they were trying to board a flight to Dubai. The police had found forged Costa Rican passports and a separate set of Belgian passports during the encounter, the report says.
The police also said in a statement that an international warrant had been issued against the two "to ensure their presence [...] before the Southern District Court in Seoul on suspicion of committing several criminal acts in the field of economy."
Following the arrest, the US District Court in Manhattan filed an eight-count fraud indictment against Kwon. Bloomberg noted that should Kwon be extradited to New York, he will be facing prosecution by the same office overseeing a criminal case against FTX Co-Founder, Sam Bankman-Fried.
