The new product called the Ledger Extension enables Nano X owners to connect their cold wallets to Web3 applications like NFT marketplaces or decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols. Currently in beta mode only, the extension is available on Safari for iOS and macOS devices. Later, Ledger plans to expand support to other browsers such as Brave, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Opera.

In an interview with TechCrunch, Vice President of Consumer Engineering at Ledger, Carl Anderson, said the extension also analyzes smart contracts and warns users whether a transaction is potentially malicious. Moreover, Ledger Extension will also make a simulation of a transaction to demonstrate how the wallet will interact with a smart contract, Anderson added.

Founded in 2014, Ledger raised a total of $468 million in several funding rounds from over 50 investors, including Samsung Ventures, 10T Holdings and others.
