Ethereum core developers during the All Core Developers Execution Layer #157 call on Thursday have approved a final deadline for activating the long-awaited Shanghai hard fork, which is set for April 12.

The update is scheduled to undergo at epoch 620,9536 at 10:27 PM UTC. However, the date is yet to be approved and confirmed by developers on GitHub.
The Shanghai hard fork upgrade includes a set of suggestions for improving the network, including EIP-4895, the implementation of which allows ether (ETH) to be withdrawn from the Beacon Chain staking contract. According to data from Staking Rewards, a total of 18.7 million of ETH ($31.1 billion) are locked in staking so far.
