The MakerDAO platform community has approved a proposal on adjusting protocol parameters aimed at limiting the impact of USD Coin (USDC) issues on the decentralized stablecoin DAI.

The proposal, which was published last March 11, includes a reduction in the maximum number of DAI that can be borrowed against specific collateral. The change in parameters will also limit the daily issuance of the stablecoin to 250 million, with the current limit being 950 million, and increase the fee for issuing an asset against USDC from 0% to 1%.

MakerDAO believes the measures will prevent USDC from being "excessively offloaded" on the PSM (peg stability module) and eliminate risks for other DeFi protocols that interact with DAI.

At the same time, the settlement mechanism that ensures the stablecoin parity against the US dollar will continue to function normally.

These changes are scheduled to take effect today.

According to DaiStats, the share of USD Coin in the DAI collateral exceeds 54%.
