Cross-platform game engine Unity wants to help game developers boost Web3 adoption with a new set of blockchain tools available in the Unity Asset Store.

In a press release, the San Francisco-headquartered company said its game engine now works with such blockchain ecosystems as Solana, Algorand and Tezos. In addition to distributed ledgers, Unity also allows developers to integrate digital wallets with the help of MetaMask.

Besides pre-defined products, game developers can build their own API bridge from scratch connecting their products to an EVM-compatible network with Infura, a blockchain infrastructure provider. Unity said that with the move it wants to support developers "interested in technology that enables decentralization in gaming."

However, Unity isn't the only game engine in the market aimed at expanding blockchain services. Its rival, Unreal Engine, also supports plugins that work with Layer 2 sidechains and perform JSON-RPC communications with smart contracts directly from the engine.
