Milena Mayorga, El Salvador's ambassador to the United States, has just announced in a meeting with Texas Undersecretary of State Joe Esparza the country intends to open a second Bitcoin embassy.
According to her, the parties have also discussed the expansion of trade and economic exchange projects.

El Salvador's first Bitcoin embassy was opened in the Swiss city of Lugano in October last year.
The authorities of El Salvador recognized Bitcoin as a legal means of payment in September 2021. Shortly thereafter, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) criticized the decision and recommended depriving the crypto of this status.

In July last year, the country's Finance Minister Alejandro Zelaya said the introduction of BTC has expanded access to financial services to a largely unbanked population, attracted tourists and investment.
