MetaMask, a self-custodian crypto wallet owned by ConsenSys, has warned its clients on Monday about the ongoing phishing attack aimed at stealing private keys and mnemonic phrases.

In a tweet, MetaMask assured users it does not collect know-your-customer information and would never email about verifying an account. The tweet states:
"Do not enter your Secret Recovery Phrase on a website EVER. If you got an email today from MetaMask or Namecheap or anyone else like this, ignore it & do not click its links!"
The move comes amid reports that MetaMask's domain provider Namecheap suffered a hacker attack, resulting in a loss of access to its email account. As per a report from BleepingComputer, other Namecheap's clients, including logistics giant DHL have also suffered a phishing attack.
