Kaplan has replaced the previous judge in the case due to a possible conflict of interest.

Prosecutors have filed eight criminal charges against Bankman-Fried, including fraud, money laundering and campaign finance violations.

Two of his former partners, former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison and FTX co-founder Gary Wang, have pleaded guilty to involvement in the exchange collapse and have agreed to cooperate with the investigation.
