Crypto wallet MetaMask now supports swaps on Layer 2 (L2) sidechains such as Arbitrum and Optimism as the platform seeks to boots liquidity amid the crypto winter.

The company said in a blog announcement that the new networks are also available in MetaMask's Portfolio Dapp, a service for aggregating assets across accounts, including non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Until now, MetaMask only supported Ethereum, BNB Chain (formerly Binance Smart Chain), Polygon, and Avalanche.

MetaMask to Integrate PayPal for Ether Purchases

In November, MetaMask revealed a new feature that allows users to send tokens across different blockchain networks. With the so-called MetaMask Bridges feature, users can now find new routes to move their tokens from one chain to another.

Initially launched in beta version, the feature currently supports 1:1 bridging of up to $10,000 per transfer of ETH/WETH, stablecoins and native gas tokens across Ethereum, Avalanche, Polygon and BNB Chain.
